Human Formation Hub
Why Human Formation for Women
Human formation is the development of the person — the capacity to think clearly, act responsibly, relate well, and live with inner stability.
In the life of the Church, this formation is essential. As stated in the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis (Congregation for the Clergy, 2016), human formation is the necessary foundation of all priestly formation. Pope John Paul II expresses the same in Pastores Dabo Vobis:
“The whole work of priestly formation would be deprived of its necessary foundation if it lacked a suitable human formation.”
This is because, in reality, a man cannot serve well as a priest without the human capacity to carry responsibility, relate to others, and act with maturity.
The same principle applies to the lay apostolate, which carries the primary responsibility for the mission of Christ in the world.
Through years of ministry in the Church — working closely with priests and forming the people of God in faith, conscience, and spiritual life — I came to recognise that serving God well requires more than spiritual formation. It requires human formation.
Human formation shapes character, strengthens virtue, and develops the ability to relate well to others — so that a person becomes a bridge to Christ, not an obstacle.
For lay women called to serve God in the world — through relationships, work, decisions, and initiatives — this formation is not optional. It is what enables them to exercise real responsibility and bring lasting good into the lives of others.
If you engage seriously with these resources — taking time, returning to key areas, and allowing what you learn to become part of your daily life — you will develop true human maturity: not defined by age, but by the way you think, respond, and act in real situations.
This is the foundation for a mature faith, and for a strong, personal relationship with God.
If you require structured guidance and personal accountability, one-to-one coaching is available.
