Discover how to get to know yourself better

Objective :

Learn to look inward: to observe what you feel, what you think, and what you do — without judging yourself.

This practice will help you take the first step towards self-awareness: understanding what moves you on the inside and how it influences your behaviours.

Shift from autopilot to conscious presence

Today, take a few moments to observe yourself during an ordinary day.

Choose a moment (at school, at home, with friends, or on your own) and quietly ask yourself:

  • What am I feeling right now?

  • What’s going through my mind?

  • Why am I doing what I’m doing at this exact moment?

You don’t need to write anything down — the point is simply to notice what’s happening inside you while it’s happening.

Try to repeat this a few times throughout the day, as if you were gently watching yourself from the outside, with kindness.

Immediate Self-Awareness Practice

Every emotion sends you a message.

Close your eyes for a moment and focus on your breathing.

Then ask yourself:

  • “What am I feeling right now, without trying to explain it?”

  • “What thought is most present for me right now?”

  • “What is my body telling me (tension, ease, calm, restlessness…)?”

My final reflection

Take a moment of quiet and reflect:

  • What have I discovered about myself today?

  • Did I notice an emotion, a habit, or a recurring thought?

  • What does this teach me about the way I am?

Self-awareness is about learning to know yourself so that you can guide yourself.

Each time you pause to observe, you’re building the foundation for all other life skills: emotional regulation, empathy, communication, and decision-making.
